Sorry, only just come across this posting. There was a similar 1st winter or female bird in garden at Manor Farm, Steart at midday on 23rd. Only around for a few seconds and couldn’t refind it.
This (Taunton) bird is still here as of this morning so there must be a few about!
Female-type Black Redstart just paid a 15-minute visit to our garden in Chipstable (half-an-hour west of Taunton), before flitting off westwards, to grace the neighbour’s patch. (Species no. 93 for the garden…)
Black Redstart (probably 1st year female) on our Kingston Road bird table at 3pm this afternoon. Appearance corresponding with BR and too early for common anyway.
Has stuck around for 90 mins since then
As of 15 March still here - likes mealworms.
