Couldn’t find Curlew Sand or SpotShank this morning. Best was an adult Med Gull.

Assuming the Curlew sandpiper on birdguides is the same one reported at steart during weekend…?

At least 4 medium sized avocet chicks amongst 50 birds yesterday. Oystercatcher sitting on nearest island. Car park open, but toilets still closed.

A smashing ad sum plum Little Stint showed well on the marsh today. Seen between 1030 and 1140 when Julian and Clive saw it fly off.  From the Quantock Hide viewing screens (hides closed) and as far round to the left as you can look.

Hides and toilets are still closed at Steart but trails are open. At least 20 Avocets present, several on nests. Two pairs of Oystercatcher, one with 2 small chicks, and a pair of Lesser Ringed Plover that sadly were being repeatedly harassed by a gull. Also saw my first Emperor dragonfly of the year and a variety of flowering plants including meadow vetchlings.
