Mark Little Moor Road - silaging today at 14.30 had attracted a Red kite amongst the corvids.
At 1215 today two Red Kites over the village of Mark and drifting north towards Rooksbridge. Marsh Harriers are now commonplace on Tadham & Tealham Moor but today a very handsome and well marked “Silverback” that I’ve never seen before. On the way back 1600hrs, on Tealham, my first post-lockdown Cattle Egret, a lone bird in breeding plumage with Cattle on the south side of the road, a few metres from me, it didn’t fly because it had just caught a very large Toad from the ditch and was having some difficulty dealing with it. Looked for Yellow Wags but didn’t find any although there was a male two fields east of the South Drain a couple of days ago. Also a male Reed Bunting - unusual here in the breeding season.
