I had a look for the Ring-Billed Gull today, but sadly no luck. After a bit of walking around Allerford I managed to locate a good-sized flock of gulls feeding in the sheep field between the end of orchard lane and the main road at SS 89481 46776. Unfortunately they took off and headed south east to another sheep field at SS 90395 46326, and so I only managed some brief flight views - certainly lots of Common Gulls which it might have been among, and at least one adult winter Med Gull. As I was heading over to this other field (which could be viewed from the bridleway running along its northern edge), the gulls headed north again to the sheep field by the main road at SS 90012 46818, before heading off west (perhaps to the original field) as I headed back that way. Frustratingly while I had some good flight views of the flock, no chance to confirm the presence/absence of the Ring-Billed - could well still be there.
An Adult Ring-Billed Gull was seen briefly in the Sheep fields around Allerford (Exmoor) SS905470 at mid day before taking flight with all the other Gulls, after much searching driving around the lanes I could not relocate it ,it was with the flocks of Black-headed Common and Med Gulls
Med Gulls recorded were
3 second winter
1 Adult winter
1 Adult summer
