Well spotted too an elusive bird on Exmoor. I am currently working in Spain and saw one in the field this evening. Beautiful majestic birds
Well done Julian, I seem to remember you found 3? on the Quantocks some years ago? Seen them elsewhere in UK but never Somerset. Curiously enough, was in Portugal watching ‘them’ last week…....................the most beautiful of all the Harriers.
Hi Nigel,
I found a male Montagu’s Harrier on 5th on the slopes of Dunkery Beacon just above Dunkery Gate. It was only about for c.15 minutes 0915-0930. I tweeted it out and it should have been available on the Twitter feed on the website home page. I should be better than I am about also posting on here, but I rather hope people use that feed as well as just this forum. I doubt it made any difference in this case - the bird was so brief that it eluded other birders already on the moor.
Birdguides has reported a male MH in Somerset on the 5th, seems not to have made it to this massage board, anybody know where it was seen?
