Stopped in briefly on my way back from Taunton this am, the site is looking very good with plenty of mud. Surely a matter of time before something decent (and American!) shows up. Best on show earlier were 2 White wag, 1 Yellow wag, 2 GWe, 2 Dunlin, 3 Common Sand, 4 Ringo, 1 LRP, 6 Teal and a juv Shelduck.
Hi Mike
it is generally accepted that if birders park in the carpark where the fisherman park and not drive up to the gates/sailing club the said authorities have always welcomed us and obviously common sense applies ,leaving no litter etc
Birds there today 6th Sept included
Knot 2
Greenshank 2
Common Sandpiper
Green sandpiper
Little Ringed Plover 3
Ringed Plover
Great White Egret 2
plenty of mud now showing and birds are moving in and out fairly frequently at the moment so well worth checking
Short of buying a fishing permit or joining the sailing club, is there anyway to get a better view than the layby / barb wire gate on the south side & the footpath / bench from the lane on the north?
Not quite here, but a Grey Phalarope was reported at Burnham yesterday.
2pm today: 1 juv Spotred, 4 Greenshank, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin, 3 CSand, 4 GSand. Res likely to stay low this summer while major works are carried out on the treatment plant I’m told.
The two terns were Arctic Terns !
