The Orange over Lime Green ringed Great White Egret that was first seen at Catcott in 2010 was on Noah’s Lake today as were the three Whooper Swans it will be 6 years l next May!
A gathering of 45 Little Egrets were on the field just East of the Daggs Lane car park Westhay at 1430 today but no sign of the Cattle Egret that usually accompanies them
It is getting increasingly common to see these birds around the levels. While catching up with my February list after a holiday in Jamaica where they are very common, I have seen 2 GWE on Tealham Moor, one on the banks of the north drain from the A 3151 and then this morning, another at Catcott Lows. It is easy to forget the excitement when the first one was seen in Westhay Moor a few years ago and how rare they still are in the country as a whole.
