Friday PM after the rain.
‘Ringo’ the original ringed GWE on the scrape in full breeding plumage. 1 male garganey.
Stopped counting hirundines at Noahs when I got to 800. Finally one Hobby showed up.
One stunning male Marsh Harrier and one female, equally stunning, over 70 acres, as well as two GWE ,only one in breeding plumage.
Two female/1cy marsh harriers one with prey at Meare Heath
At 6pm I sat in the island hide surrounded by c1500 hirundines of all species, many resting awhile on the reeds before taking off again to feed on tiny insects. What a racket! Starlings fly in formation. These birds fly at random, at great speed with no collisions witnessed. Fantastic flying skills.

Yesterday morning.
5 Hobbys in front of Noahs hide - mostly distant. 1 hobby over 70 acre.  2 hobbys hawking low over south east corner of Waltons. This is what I spotted there may well have been more.
1 garganey on scrape - 4 were reported early in morning. Garden warblers along track from Shapwick car park. Bittern flew full length of 70 acres.  Light coloured marsh harrier on 70 acre. Great white egrets active on scrape and Waltons.
Herd of Highland cows on strip of land between scrape and South Drain.
