Carried out the first of this years breeding bird surveys at Pawlett Hams nature reserve this morning. Wet conditions throughout, so hoping for some retention of water into the spring/early summer.

Lapwing numbers were low - so hoping for a influx in the coming weeks
Single curlew along with small numbers of Greenshank and 2 Green Sandpiper
3 Golden plover including 2 stunning males in summer plumage
Yellow wagtail over
Linnet also beginning to claim territories, plus shelduck, gadwell, shoveler, snipe. meadow pipit, reed bunting etc…
