Rarely see barn owls here, but 2 were hunting off Gypsy Drove, the stony farm track that leads off Ham Lane out to Cobb’s Lease Clyce, at 6.15 this evening. Picked them up by torchlight while walking the dogs and casting around for glowing eyes in the dark (3 foxes spotted). Having seen the r b merganser on the lower Huntspill this morning, I also went looking for goosanders from Woolavington bridge this afternoon. At least 6 seen upstream towards Gold Corner.
