Great Northern Diver
3 Red-throated Diver
1 Common Scoter
So far this autumn/winter diver numbers, particularly Red-throated diver have not really peaked in high counts. As in previous years on occasion numbers have topped well over a hundred on single day, Auk species have also been very low for this time of year, one theory is perhaps good feeding has been had further West of the Channel but it has been a good year for Herring and sprats up our end or perhaps sadly the number of birds are just not there.Another strange fact is this winter we have seen the majority of divers sat on the sea peaking on or just after the high water, where as in previous years you could see single flocks of up to 15+ birds in flight where this year we have not seen this.Normally numbers start to drop off in the New year so its looking like its just a quiet time for us on the diver front this winter off Hurlstone Pt
