A Firecrest associating with several Goldcrests in the usual area, the Ivy-clad Trees on London Drove, although it was mainly foraging out in the open, not in the Ivy.
A late WEBS count this morning produced very high counts of several species probably due to being forced onto un-iced open water on the larger Lakes - record numbers (for me) of 191 Gadwall, 131 Mallard & 86 Shoveler, the count also included 85 Widgeon, 65 Teal, 35 Tufties, 6 Pintail, 126 Coot and 26 Snipe, no Goosander as yet and no Pochard or Geese. A Male & female Marsh Harrier were active as were a pair of Ravens, also saw a flyover Bittern, 3 GWE’s, Stonechat, Beardies seen at one location and heard at several others.
