This morning (29/10) was a great day for Raptors on the Quantock Hills above Hodder’s Combe
It started with a passing Hen Harrier (not adult male) and it looked as if it was heading through and towards Exmoor
I flushed a Peregrine from the ground near Bicknoller Post
A Sparrowhawk nearly took my head off while in Hodder’s Combe.
A Sparrowhawk took a Redwing from one of the Holly bushes high on the slopes above the main tree line on the East side of Hodder’s Combe
A beautiful Buzzard flew overhead
A pair of Ravens were in full display mode
The Ravens mobbed another Raven, Sparrowhawk and a Buzzard.
There were masses of Redwing, much fewer Fieldfares and the occasional Mistle Thursh, sadly no sign of any Ring Ouzels
Plenty of Woodpigeons going over
Felt like a spring day rather than one of last days of October.
