In January 2021, we said once we were able to, we planned to hold two Member’s days each year but COVID has continued, so we deferred launching such events. Since COVID, people have become more wary about attending gatherings. Our previous Members’ days, before COVID, had only around 30 Members attending out of a membership of around 500, so attendance might be even lower now. Hopefully we will be able to hold a Members’ day in person before too long. We are running field events, which are a great opportunity for Members to get together in the open.
When are the two social meetings that were promised when the indoor meetings went by the board? I seem to recall we were told there would be two a year. The social side which is important in all societies is a vital part of the membership without it no one meets anyone.
No, Kate, we are looking to arrange some further Zoom talks for the autumn and winter. They have proved to be very successful and allow us to get speakers who might not be able to travel to Somerset. Details will be posted when known.
hi Rob are there going to be any indoor meeting’s ?
Details of the first two field meetings of the autumn/winter period have been posted on the Events section of this website.
We know that many Members are keen on field meetings but we need people to lead them. If you believe you have the experience and knowledge to lead any such meeting, then please email alison.everett@somersetbirding.org.uk.
