Today a lady has reported three dead Mute Swans on Butleigh Drove. Judging from the lack of decomposition, it’s unlikely they are the birds reported by Robin. I’ve asked her to inform DEFRA.
One of the birds was colour-ringed. I have photos and will try to find out details of this bird.
I came across 2 dead swans on the edge of Butleigh Moor this morning. They are near the Drove and look like they died last night Might be natural causes but just incase I informed DEFRA as there are no power lines in the area. The birds are about 1/2mile from the east end of the Drove. The DEFRA policy is not to collect single birds for Avian flu, but would take action if more dead birds are seen or found. So if you are in the area please let DEFRA know on 03459335577 and quote reference 1058255 if you see other dead birds.
Many thanks, Robin
