Steve Holliday, who sells county bird reports, is offering for sale a very rare run of Somerset Bird Reports previously owned by the late Bernard King. They run from 1924 to 1951 in four volumes. Each volume contains BK’s bookplate, depicting a Northern Parula (drawn by Robin Prytherch) which was found by BK on Tresco in 1966, a “first” for Britain. The volumes also include numerous reprints from other journals such as British Birds and the Bristol Naturalists’ Society, plus original letters from B.W. Tucker, Hugh Boyd and Sir Peter Scott. A more detailed description of the contents is available on request. He says that the price, £300, also reflects his reluctance to sell!

Steve’s contact details are:

2 Larriston Place, Cramlington, Northumberland NE23 8ER, tel. no. 01670 731963 or 07786 213699.
