Thanks, Tim. The original link has been playing up so I’ve inserted a direct link in the original post to the relevant page on the MCS’s website.
Thanks for this. Unfortunately Turtle Code link isn’t working.
Cheers, Tim
Rod Penrose, of UK Cetacean Strandlings Investigation Programme (CSIP), has asked WeBS and NEWS counters to be on the look out for turtles that have been washed ashore. Over the last two months, as a result of the storms, they have been receiving high numbers of both live and dead marine turtles on the UK and Republic of Ireland shores.
CSIP are asking WeBS and NEWS counters to report any live or dead sighting or strandlings they may come across - please see the Turtle Code for the correct number to ring for our region. Please note, live turtles should not be put back into the sea as they will not survive the cold UK waters. The Code gives further information on what to do.
While aimed at counters, the advice applies to anyone who finds a stranded turtle.
