Just back from 9 days in Iberia and thought that a couple of bird records were worthy of note. On March 3 we visited Fuente de Piedra near Antequera where there is a well established breeding colony of Greater Flamingo but this time we also saw a Lesser Flamingo there-my first in Europe. Apparently a small group of them have been present recently. On March 6th in Tavira on the Algarve we saw ( and have a record shot of) an Iceland Gull! Both birds were many hundreds of miles from their usual territory and it must be unusual to see them both at the same latitude. Also of note were Little Bustard (a new life record for me), Lesser Kestrel, Black Shouldered Kite, Osprey, Penduline Tit, Stone Curlew and a total of 20 wader species.
