There are still several places available on these two trips if anyone is interested
Dave Roberts, a Fishing Charter Boat Skipper at Minehead, keen Birder and Photographer is planning two 7 hour Boat trips for Birdwatchers and Wildlife Photographers departing Minehead Harbour 31st May 2018, 1045hrs, and 1st June, 1115hrs. The main objective is to visit the Sea Bird Colony at Highveer Point, (between Woody Bay and Heddons Mouth, only viewable from the sea), to photograph the Auks, Kittiwakes and Fulmars which should be feeding young. On the way there, and back, he will visit various Peregrine hot spots, and check out the Cliffs at Glenthorne for Somerset nesting Fulmars. There will almost certainly be the opportunity to photograph Gannetts diving for fish at the boat, (in the days prior to the trip he will have “trained” a few of the Foreland Point regulars for the purpose). Other targets likely to be seen are Harbour Porpoise and Manx Shearwater plus the usual Gulls.
There are only 6 places available per trip and the cost will be £50 per head, (pay on the day). Take a packed lunch, tea will be provided on the Boat. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions the trip will cancelled the evening before – please note that due to the tidal range in the Bristol Channel there is no possibility of return to terra firma for the full 7 hours, persons liable to sea-sickness should bear this in mind.
