The Otter was seen again on the scrape at around midday and offered good views. It eventually caught an Eel before dissappearing in to the reeds on the right. Later on the Cattle Egrets arrived and remained there until I left ( 5:00pm ). On my way back I saw a Red Kite which drifted over from ‘’ Noahs ‘’ and headed off North east over Mere heath where it was mobbed by a Crow. This all happened yesterday ( 26th ) and I apologise for the late posting.
FIVE Hobbies in the air together from the Tower Hide looking over the Scrape this afternoon.
On the Scrape were ; 1 Little Ringed Plover ; 1 Ringed Plover; 3 Dunlin; and 40 Blk Tld. G’Wits the waders present, plus another mid afternoon visit by 11 Cattle Egrets who sat out a wintry shower in a howling cold wind.
And 2 cattle egrets in breeding plumage this morning in a field of cattle elsewhere.
Mon. 1130-1530 I Dunlin (new)! J ust one Blk Wit but others possibly removed before I arrived as the South Drain bank was being topped by N.E. tractor!
Six Cattle Egrets arrived around 1220 and stayed for a 20mins or so. Later at 1430 Eleven Cattle Egrets arrived together and stayed around for 30 mins
One Little Ringed Plover with 18 Blk Wits around 1830 this evening with a flyby of eleven Cattle Egrets. Plus a Cuckoo calling south of Ham Wall car park.
little change on the scrape just One drake Garganey; one Ruff; 61 Blk Tld. G’wits. A few Teal, Gadwall , Mallard and a couple of Tufted Duck.
A Cuckoo called and flew East over 70 Acres behind the Tower hide, A Whitethroat singing just west of the hide and a Garden Warbler in good song 100M east of the hide in the line of bushes were all firsts of the year for me!
One Greenshank; One Ruff; circa 65 Blk Wits including a ringed bird which I have now reported!
Highlight overhead was my first Hobby of the year mid afternoon.
(!000-1200hrs). 1 Little and 1 Ringed Plover; 1 Ruff; 1 Redshank; 1 Glossy Ibis. 60 Blackwits; 3 G.W. Egrets together; 1 Little Egret; 1 drake Wigeon plus a couple of Tufties, a dozen Gadwall and a few Teal.
Several small groups of Swift eastwards during afternoon of 15 April. Also 1 Ruff, 60 Black-wits, 2 LRPs and 2 RPs on scrape.
13 Cattle Egrets on the scrape late this afternoon
Single Ruff this afternoon (new); 1 Redshank: 1 Cattle Egret; 1 Glossy Ibis; 60+ Blk Wits. 1 Little Egret: 1 Wigeon; 3 Tufted Duck ; plus a few Teal, Gadwall and Mallard.
Much as yesterday, 4 Redshank (new), 65 Black Wits, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Ringed Plover and occasional Egrets but no Cattle ones! at least up until 1500hrs.
The 8 Cattle Egrets were on the scrape at 7.30 last evening.
No sign of the Stilt today from 0800 up to 1500hrs. Just 2 Ringed Plover (new) . 1 Little Ringed Plover and 65 Black Wits and a couple of dozen duck that included 1 drake Wigeon.

8 Cattle Egrets flew-in and landed at about 18:25, they stayed until 18:55 and then flew off to the north, low over the canal and adjacent Estates Ground where lost to view. The Black-winged Stilt was still present up to 19:45 as we left, at which time a single Glossy Ibis flew-in and landed. Also 2 Little Ringed Plovers present on the near island.
