Good evening all,
Apologies to all those who couldn’t make it and have emailed to ask for a copy of the recording - I appear to be having some issues with outlook at present and cannot send replies.
I am afraid that Alex’s talk wasn’t recorded, however the same talk was given to the BOU, and can be viewed here for any interested parties.
I hope this is of assistance.
Dan Watson
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your message - I have emailed you directly with the links required, hopefully you will have received this now - any issues please let me know.
In case anyone else is having issues or wants to attend but hasn’t received the invite, please feel free to contact me on my personal email below.
Thanks again and look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow evening.
Dan, thanks for setting a virtual talk up; I’m a member and email was up to date with the Soc in Oct 23 (Dick Best sent Bittern via email) but no notification and nothing in junk I’m afraid. email is .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) , pls send link (or post here); not sure how else I can “contact the society” as you suggest, bearing in mind a change of leadership (and thus contact email I assume). Hoping I’ve not missed this, Simon
Hello all,
Provided your email address is up to date with the SOS database, you should have received an invitation to next week’s virtual meeting - please note this will have come from my personal email (dwatsonbirder at live dot co do uk) so it may be worth checking your junk folder.
If anyone has any issues or has not received the invitation, please could I ask you to notify the society, and we will issue an invitation directly.
Looking forward to seeing you next week.
Dan
A link to access each of the talks will be sent out nearer the time, further details to follow.
I cannot find anything in my emails, did the link get sent for the recent talk?
Hi Gareth, apologies for the delay.
Sadly the first talk of the season (PWC by James Spencer) has had to be postponed, but next weeks talk by yours truly (Winter birding in Northern Greece) will be going ahead, and an email will be sent around later this week with joining instructions.
Hope this helps,
Dan

Happy new year to all!
I’m delighted to say that we have some excellent talks lined up this year, with more to be confirmed in due course:
January 25th - James Spencer will be providing a talk on “Patchwork Challenge” and how you can get involved.
February 29th - I will be taking you around the world in 10(ish) birds, though this may change to a talk on birding Lake Kerkini in Greece.
March 28th - We are delighted to welcome back Dr Alex Lees who will be giving a thought provoking talk entitled “Does bird feeding help or hinder avian conservation?”.
The autumn/winter programme is currently being ironed out, but will likely include SOS favourite Rob Williams, John Prochera talking about birding in Arizona and Jack Ashton-Booth giving us an update on the conservation effort to save the UK’s Hen Harriers.
A link to access each of the talks will be sent out nearer the time, further details to follow.
Good birding!
