Late morning: Just 13 Dunlin and one Ruff on the muddy edge near the Cheddar Tower; also the adult Whooper Swan feeding alone 150 mtrs out in open water. No sign of a Little Stint or the Red-cr Pochard from here, or from the Axbridge Tower to the yacht club. Noticeable absence of any Grt W Egrets.
This morning from Cheddar Tower 2 little stints, 12 dunlin, 10 snipe, 3 ruff, black and whooper swans, but just 2 great egrets. Also wheatear seen by Mike H.
This morning with Sean D:
The drake RC Pochard, now looking quite smart
The Whooper still
1 L Stint, 15 Dunlin, 3 Ruff
1 ad Common Tern
And a Marsh Harrier after I’d left
Usually the problem but always worth checking. I’ve never seen them do that either. Thanks
None obvious, but half of them were a lot further out (presumably these are birds that would be at chew in previous autumns).
Not sure I’ve seen egrets or herons down on their tarsus, or lying down on ground, anywhere else (latter herons, not egrets)
