Hi Kim, at 0700 vis was appox 80 yards [but i could see the sun!! ] the dead bird was on the level area of concrete ,about 50 meters left of the Cheddar tower

Was hoping for some tern or gull action at the res this morning first thing but it was so misty I could barely see my hand in front of my face let alone any dead swans!  Did see/hear 2 common sandpipers, little egret, 3 great (white) egrets, 2 grey herons, 9 linnets and 30+ Canada geese.

At the res this am ,close to the Cheddar tower there is a dead Swan, anyone know if this is to be reported to anywhere or any procedure?

down Middle Moor Lane,  Bullfinch audible only, and a pair if Peregrine Falcons in an arial display of diving and chasing each other ,they have been around for most of the week after hearing them calling on my walk that way, but first time to actually see them this morning

As the res continues to empty there were Two Herons this morning ,Two little egrets and what appeared to be two quite larger juvenile GC Grebes ,

one little egret this morning, and what appeared to be a pair of G C grebes nest building!! ..... NOT SURE if people are aware but due to the “lockdown” anti social habits in and around the reservoir BW have announced they will be CLOSING ALL ACCESS to the res when the temperature reaches 23C .  Notices have been placed at areas around the res , SO TEMPERATURE WATCH TIME FOLKS

Quiet morning at the Res.  Birds of note were 2 little egrets and 2 common sandpipers.  As the water level slowly drops, duck numbers are slowly rising: I counted over 80 mallards but only one tufted duck.  Still 2 coots, though.  And a whitethroat still singing well.

Later report sorry - Little owl, two dunlin and Little Ringed Plover last Friday evening, 12th June, 9pm.  Very quiet at the reservoir when I arrived (light rain), but sat and watched the (noisy) Little Owl for some time then turned to find the waders behind me.

group of about 15 Swift this morning close to the waterworks base.[probably the same birds swirling over and around our house Saturday eve,] 3 Whitethroat,  one visible and calling in the copse adjacent to the sports field, 2 others were just audible only, s ingle Greenfinch by the Tennis club carpark

Single little egret fishing in the shallows on the north side; peregrine overhead and whitethroat still singing well.

10 or 20 Swifts at the reservoir this morning, Cheddar  end of the res, first I’ve seen for a long time.
Swifts used to be summer residents in Wedmore but sadly no more.

The number of swifts over the east bank this morning was a little higher: I counted at least 30 and estimate that there were between 50 and 70 in total, together with a few swallows and house martins.  I suspect the cooler temperature has brought their insect prey closer to earth and it was exhilirating having them flying at and around me; tried taking some photos but failed miserably!  Whitethroat still in full song along Strawberry Line.
