Thanks John, I also know an historic Tree Sparrow site that needs checking and should be able to find out about other farms with set aside, enviro-schemes, etc.  A few of us could target both species next spring perhaps - will look forward to it.

Thanks to mods for tolerating this chat,
Andy

Hi Andy,

Sorry for the delay in replying as I was on the Mendips last Night with friends looking for Nightjars. From my perspective I am no longer planning to try for Nightingales this Summer.

The East of the County is greatly under watched. A little co-ordinated check next year of areas in East Somerset would be a good exercise.

Best Wishes

John

John, I’d be up for helping look next year (if you think it is now too late for 2018).

I’ve managed to locate 2 Other East Somerset Nightingales since the 4 mentioned on this thread.

Sadly with work and family commitments there are quite a few local areas I would like to have tried to visit but haven’t had time. Still, 6 isn’t too bad for this Year and who knows what next Year might bring if some of these manage to breed successfully.

4 Nightingales around midday in East Somerset. Now is a great time to check any suitable habitat for possible Nightingales
