A welcome return visit by David Smallshire who is an all round naturalist, tour leader and author, who has written a highly acclaimed book on dragonflies. Bulgaria, which is smaller than England, has only eight million inhabitants. Much of the country is farmed using traditional methods and the landscape ranges from mountains to extensive forests and remnants of steppe which occur near the Black Sea, where large lakes host hordes of wetland birds and autumn see high numbers of birds migrating along the 'Via Pontica' highway. David's illustrated talk will take you birding around these habitats, as well as illustrating some of the other wildlife that can be encountered.
