Well that does cover a very large area. If the actual site was identified then it would be much easier to find out who was allowed to shoot in the area, what they were permitted to shoot, and when they were allowed to shoot.
Of course the local farmer would know these things, so presumably the criminal had not been permitted to shoot on his land.
The people in my area who shoot the land all know each other and they protect their shooting ‘rights’ from outsiders.
The reward for information leading to a successful prosecution is now £2000.

The media are reporting that the bird was found in a maize field near Ilchester.

Would it not help in finding the perpetrator of this ghastly crime if the location of the dead crane was released?
Or at least the area where it was found.

Damon Bridge, from the Great Crane Project, has today reported that one of the County’s breeding Cranes has been found dead, with lead shot in its body. Full information about this appalling discovery can be found here. There is a £1,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
