My photo has been re-identified as a Siberian Chiffchaff after I posted it on Birdguides. Presumably one of the browner looking members of this race rather than the greyish-brown and white birds that I’ve had experience of in the past; a pity it didn’t call. Oh well back there again tomorrow for another look.

Relocated the Dusky Warbler at Ham Wall this afternoon at about 1400hrs. It was some 100m west of VP2 along the canal bank, in a clump of willows very near to where the sign-posted track goes off towards the new Avalon Hide. Wasn’t sure of the ID until back home, as left my reading specs behind and only saw it thro my lens for a few secs before it flicked out-of-sight, and my few BOC shots were all dark and under exposed.

...nor between 2 and 3.30 but yet another Sibe Chiff candidate in amongst 6 or 8 ‘common’ Chiffchaffs.  Really hope the Dusky sticks around, a great find and was always on the cards for the Levels.  Nice one, Tom.

No further sign of the Dusky warbler by 2pm at least, unfortunately. But a brief Water Pipit in the same area.
