Alan. there are 3 Whooper or at least there were on 19th Nov when I saw a single close to the island where the first single bird was seen and then I saw the other 2 swimming some distance away. I only saw the single bird yesterday fairly close to the railway line.
A Ferruginous Duck was on Noah’s Lake Shapwick Heath today, seen three times, picked out by it’s clean lines on the back, pale sides and a white stern. difficult to maintain observations as it’ was in among hundreds of duck that included, a fair sprinkling of Tufted females all the duck and Coot were being continually put to flight by two Marsh Harriers harrying them! making it difficult to relocate it. Not an absolute striking male but with slightly subdued coloration. Three of us had reasonable scope views.
The Two Whoopers are still present.
